| That car has SO MUCH personality ! ! ! Someone's just GOTTA do something with it ! ! ! If it wasn't so far away, I'd be all over it in a minute. |

| I really don't think that your 98% is an exaggeration either. I know that I've been responsible for almost 73% of them myself . . . |

| almost none of the "restored" cars were ever put on a frame correction table/jig which is where every restoration on a 356/911 should start, most folks have no idea about such things |

But they ALL have the correct VDM steering wheel, foot well speaker cloth, and surrounds . . . give me a good honest unrestored car any time.
At least you know where you're making a stand with a beater. |

I would disagree with that number only with California/Arizona cars. "Only" about 70% of them are rolling wrecks. |

| i have always been mystified by what is so great about the cali and az cars, ive seen them up close and honestly they have the same rust all the cars up here have, sometimes its even worse cause it doesnt LOOK so bad,but dig in and they are damn near all the same. its like ive said for yrs, starting with a wrinkled wrecked or rusty shell is damn near the same as starting with a complete less rusty car,by the time you have restored it (im talking about real restorations not just bondo slather) you will have bought all the parts again anyway |

| A car that spent it's life in Phoenix somehow missed all the Oregon FOG, RAIN, and SALT AIR. Might be a sight advantage.........................yah think? Unless, of course, the Arizona cars you see...........started their life in Oregon. |

Yup! Was thinking the same thing about Massachusetts. Honest and truly . . . I really COULD make something fine using that shell. Paint the whole thing with MasterSeries, lay a build-up of fiberglass mat inside the "shell" with wood reinforcements (like a Boston Whaler), a nice shortened Beetle pan or tube sand rail frame. Sweet drivetrain with plexi windows, drag slicks and . . .

How cool am I ! ? ! ? ! ? ! ?
Gonna have to keep my eye out for something a bit closer, it's only a PhotoChop right now, but this just might be a possibility. |

| hey 53 oval, the car that sat under a car port in phnx all its life will have less rust.....but after a dip or blast/frame check/repair,it will have rust coming thru, like i said its almost more heartbreaking to just have "a little" rust than a rustbucket. every single car out there needs to have the longitudinals opened and repaired to be called "rustfree" theres strength that is lost in the frame. go under 200 356s look in between the 2 front torsion bars at the panel on the inside, they are always fatigued no matter where they were stored, but i think your talking about "i dont see any rust so it doesnt exist" type cars, them is some dangerous cars |
