| Quite graphic photos. Hopefully when rebuilding they will put some rebar in their concrete structures. |

| Wars and disasters truly suck. It's always the little "inconsequential" people who pay the heaviest price. Our hearts go out to our Chinese brothers and sisters. |

A disaster of this proportions is most painful, like 12 9/11's all at once.
I hope we can show by example that sympathy and aid are a universal calling.
Peace be with you. |

Watching the news and reading the paper doesn't really show or describe the brutality of what happened as do your photos. Many in this country badmouth the Chinese but I'm sure many of those same people are moved to tears at seeing the devastation and death brought about by a "natural" disaster.
Our prayers go out the dead and the survivors who have lost loved ones. |

Most of the deaths could have been avoided if the buildings had been better constructed. That isn't the fault of the natural disaster, but of a government that has more regard for export profits than for the lives of its citizens.
On the Ring of Fire it isn't a matter of if an earthquake will occur, but when. Using unreinforced concrete construction in earthquake zones is criminal, particularly in a country that is the world's largest exporter of steel rebar. |

Yes, war CAN be prevented, but seldom is. It's too profitable for the bigwigs who don't fight them. No- one is confusing the government and the people at all. As I said, it's the people that suffer most mightily in both cases. |

Dave... not you too.
These people need our help.
I am offering to house any young Chinese girls who need a place to stay. |
