I know this topic may be running a little close to the lock line but believe me, I am not trying to start any political dicussions.
I seen on the news last night that Sarasota, Fl. has a couple new really strange laws coming into effect. 1: If you are a smoker at all, you are "ineligible" to be hired. WTF? What I do in my own time is now the governments busines? 2: If you got a bumpin stereo that can be heard "clearly" @ 25 feet, the police can impound your ride. First offense, buy your car back for $125, second time its $400, third time they keep ya car. Now, I dont always enjoy what I hear coming from other peoples cars (actually, I very rarely enjoy it) but damn, yankin a ride is just wrong.
I really think Big Brother lives in Sarasota. |

There is no reason to have a stereo in a car. An AM radio is handy in a weather emergency, but that's about it.
Oh-smoking causes global warming. |

In Virginia the legal age of consent is 16. UNLESS the girl is a virgin, then its 12.
Back on topic, while I dont enjoy the loud music, I figure what the hey, the cars are gonna be rattled apart in less than 6 months so.... |

Sarasota is "different". They regularly arrest for spitting on the sidewalk. No joke. Sarasota Police Dept also has a rep for random beat downs of people for little to no reason. The smoking ban is for county positions only. It's nothing new here in Florida. I work for Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office and they do not hire anyone that has used Tobacco products within 6 months of the application. Thy also test for nicotine after you're hired.
As far as the stereos are concerned, Sarasota's youth can think the old grouches for that. They dominate the population and the kids aren't the ones voting. If more people in the lower age bracket would vote it might help their cause. I don't agree with it at all but it is what it is. Sarasota isn't much to brag about anyways.......they should move lol |

This comes as no surprise to me. Growing up i Sarasota, I have been pulled over for the dumbest reasons.
What really pisses me off is when I get pulled for a "loud exhaust" on my bug when the Harleys (witch are MUCH louder) never get picked on. WHAT THE F#@K! |
