Today, I took the bug for a spin and parked it in town. When I came back, it had a dent it the fender. Someone sideswiped it. No phone number, note, or anything. This is the second time in one year that someone hits my car while parking and takes off. What a bitch move.

It sucks, they think that you won't go mad because that's not a Mercedes Benz of 2007, but it's wrong..Maybe it's much more frustrating that a Beetle gets to hit and run..In fact, it's about humanity, not the make of the car..A normal human being should have waited for you or leave his/her details..I hope it won't happen again..

I love Fairfax, my brother lives in Charlottesville and I visited Virginia once..Lovely state.. :) But yeas, sh.t finds you everywhere..

I see something like that nearly once a week. If I see it, I try to get the offender's plate # and I leave it under the wiper blade of the poor guy who got hit. A few people have been charged w/ hit and run because of this. Pay it forward!

that sucks man , if you value your car around here sometimes you have to park far away , back when i used to drive my 60 caddy i used to park across like 4 spots way in the back of anywhere i parked , it saved it from dents and gave my fat ass some exercise walking to the store lol . but yeah , people around here are such douchebags that they don't leave notes anymore , they just take off . post a pic of it , maybe it can be knocked out .

I feel your pain! A week ago someone broke into my garage and ripped the speakers out of the custom speaker tray that I spent an entire day making. Other items were taken, but violating my bug was the worst!!

I too feel your pain.

My wife and I were getting out of our car when I saw a women pull in across the way in a van full of people, she hit the car next to her, got out of the car looked around and went into the restaurant. :x Well my wife and I saw what happened so I go into the restaurant and ask the manager to ask if someone has a green ford this man comes up to me and I point out the women in the booth and tell him what happened. :D

The car was a undercover police car PRICELESS :2gunfire:

yah people dont realize how much time and money goes into these things and take it lightly when they ding em

I had been driving my car to school for less than two months and I come out one day with a dent the size of a basketball (literally a basketball cut in half) in my hood. I parked it on the street and someone had backed into it  didnt even leave a not or anything. And its a street that any a small number of juniors are allowed to park on. it just pisses me off that someone ive been going to school with for 2 and a half years (small school and most the kids are really cool) would just back into my car and not even leave a note or try to find me (im the only one that drives a red chopped bug, and everyone knows that), needless to say I ended up with a $400 body shop bill

Next time you are going into a parking lot find the nicest most expensive car and park right next to it. I'm sure a guy in a 2008 Vet will not open his door and bang your car.

 Unfortunately, the Vet will depart and an old minivan full of rug rats, driven by an old, fat mama will then arrive...

I would get REALLY frustrated, especially if I took a lot of time in refurbishing my Bug and some idiot decides to ding it up...

Here in California, though, there seems to be a reverence for classic (read: REAL) VW's

Wow, that reminds me of when I used to go to school.

I came out one day and noticed that someone just smeared the front of my car; got one fender, the hood, and my 3 month old apron. Of course, no one was around, but some kid that I didn't care much for saw the girl that did it.

Later, she said, "I went home to get a phone book to call you." I guess getting out of her new F-150 and walking back inside the building was far too difficult. 1200 was the bill from the shop (the quality of the work wasn't worth half of that).

I should have just got the police involved on that one. This was her first of many vehicular mishaps. The others involving rolling a car and another fatally T-boning a car.

I've learned to park as far away from the "normal" parking areas as possible. I'd rather walk than have my cars beat up. Too much labor involved for some inconsiderate driver to bang into.

Doesn't matter if it's old or new, rare or common. I parked in the Metro (DC subway) parking garage this past winter in my DeLorean. Recent population estimates are that there's roughly 6,000 remaining DMC's in the world.

I had time to kill so I reclined the seat and played some tunes. A guy in a mile-long Cadillac pulled up on my passenger side and didn't see me. He banged my door 3 times trying to get out of his car.

After the 3rd time, I stepped out, much to his surprise and said "Just keep banging a--hole. Eventually, you'll make enough room to get out". He stammered and tried to blame my car's gullwing doors for the lack of clearance when I pointed out that my doors only require 11 inches of clearance to open. I told him that if I stepped over to the passenger door and found a mark, that he'd better call a police officer.

I walked over and observed that his door precisely hit the rubber "ding strip" on the door causing no damage. It's simply a universal lack of respect and courtesy that exists in our culture today. Don't expect it to improve.

to quote Bill Ingvall, redneck comedian & a great American.....

"I just hate stupid people!"

The thing that really sucks is that 99% of them reproduce & pass the gene on to their offspring.
