Got a chance to buy a 1993 Repsol Honda 600 red/white in color with all the repsol decals. The bike is flawless, clean and has never been down, fully maintained buy the dealer ship with reciepts to prove it but it has 38k miles on it. My questions is that is 38k miles alot for a sportbike? And he is willing to sell it to me for $3000 so is tha a fair price?

Where are you located? 38K is kind of a lot for a sportbike but if it is maintained, it should be ok. I would have it looked at though. I think $3000 is reasonable if it is in super great condition but it is 15 years old, I don't think I would pay much more than $2000. But again, it depends on where you are located...

I have seen the bike and its location is in So. Cal. and if you look in cycle trader for the same year CBR600 they are selling for around $4000 and I could not believe it due to the age.

thats a ton of miles for that engine , make sure it doesn't smoke , it's probably due for a valve adjustment , bring a compression tester , if the dude won't let you test it tell him to go to hell and look elsewhere .

a problem on the older cbrs is the dogs on the gears in the tranny. a high millage bike even well maintained will have wear. and when ridden hard will cause the tranny to jump in and out of gear. it is very common to find an f2 cbr with a bad 2nd gear. big bucks to have it fixed.

Went to a dealership today and told them the situation and the mechanic there said it is not worth more than $1200 due to the mileage no matter how clean the bike is.
