Again, show me some pics and documentation and I'll believe it....

How did I know Bob would be throwing in on this. lol

Well, regardless, although I may have shot myself in the foot on the odds now, if you find one...

I'll buy it.

I didn't say Bob was throwing in :D , I just said we traded books :D

These books are very detailed on early RHD production in these countries and they are very limited in numbers. Pretty cool stuff, my RHD is a 56 so not as rare, but still an oddity in the USA.

However, as stated previously, this doesn't account for all of the other RHD countries... so who knows 8)

I have to say that at this point in time, I don't think one exists.

Not a real one anyway.

Same here. My Aussie '54 had its OG paint when I got it. It was ivory...which wasn't in any books. I ran into a gentleman who's father happened to be an executive for VW in OZ. He said ivory was an Aussie only color... for what its worth. That was after I painted it. Maybe next time we'll go with the original color.

Good thing about CKD cars and VW birth certificates?

Blank slate!....

I have to say that at this point in time, I'm certain they existed.

Ever seen one?

Even a pic of one?

this summer on 100000km meeting at Hückeswagen a british guy showed up with an early 53 oval in unrestored cond. - He said it´s one of the first RHD - and he had a sunroof.

I've never seen a RHD zwitter ragtop, but I can't understand why they wouldn't have built any. RHD zwitters exist, zwitter ragtops exist, so why wouldn't there be any RHD zwitter ragtops? It may be that they were offered but no-one ordered one, but I can't see why not.

Don't forget that '67 standards were offered with Golde ragtops (2-fold, obviously), and I know of a few of them, even though it's really unlikely you'd save a load of money ordering a standard over a deluxe, then spend it all by ordering a ragtop!

From reading all of this I can only come up with one truth, Bruce is the only one that knows for a fact that they exist, but cant show a picture..... But this morning driving down the freeway I saw Reggie White drive past in a bright Orange (OG paint) NZ CKD RHD 53 split with a flag pole on the fender that said "Reggie White's Dead?".....

lol. Dude, factory RHD orange 55 sedans are played out like your fake BRMs.

So what I'm curious about is this theory that they exist but "they are in a hanger in area 51" concept.

You would think that there would be more people who would have input on this who actually KNOW the answer and have some proof. I mean, we're talking production numbers here, not prototype model years.

If there is someone who KNOWS that they exist, then what is the big deal about disclosing proof about it? What's the big freaking deal?

Unfortunately an Oval isn't a Zwitter.

Where's your proof they don't exist?

this is in a museum near Brighton, the people who own it claim its a 51 or 52 I can't remember which and I don't know what that number plate is doing on there with 1950 written on it. Anyway its not a 51 or 52 thats for sure, but it could be an original RHD and I just realised you wanted it to have a ragtop which it doesn't oh well never mind...

malachai Wed Jul 02, 2008 3:11 am

even more brilliantly I just realised its not RHD! I had to be up early this morning ok?

I'll stick to the split bus forums I think...
