| I just got a 12v fog light for my '63 and wanted to get info on a fog light switch. do the switches that can be found in the classifieds run just the fogs or do they run the city, head and fog lights? thanks |

It depends on the switch, but most "fog light" switches are simple two-terminal on/off switches, so really, you can wire them up to run anything you want to. So, really, the wiring is up to you. If it's a classic or new-old-stock switch you are paying a lot for, you might consider using it to activate a relay instead of running the foglight current through the switch. I'd use it just for the foglights and keep the parking/headlight circuits stock.

| wire it to the high beams, then when you kick the switch on floor your fog lights come on with the high beams, saves you from mounting switches in the dash too |

| Or wire it to your ignition so whenever you turn your key you always have lights on 8) |

Not to sound like an ass, but this is about the stupidest thing I've ever heard for actual functionality.... Seriously driving in fog with your high beams on is about the worst idea ever! It's restricts your vision greatly... thats why fogs are usually mounted low, to cut UNDER the fog so you can SEE the road... |

these lights are usually used as extras, like rally lights. When driving in pitch black its always good to have 3 or 4 high beams on, so you can see what animals your going to hit. i have one on the sixty4 daily driver below, works great, wired directly to high beams
fog lights are pretty useless where i live.
so before saying not to sound like an ass, dont judge, maybe even try to think first

Thanks. |

Then you are talking about driving lights, not fog lights.
Fogs are short distance, sharp sutoff lamps intended to shine under the fog and help when used with LOW beams.
Driving lamps are like added high beams--they project a pencil beam down the road to light the distance road.
On new cars by law, foglamps are to be wired to come on ONLY with low beams, and for good reason. |

| in some states it is a ticket to have fog lights wired with hi beam. you have not driven in fog or you would know why you use low beams. |
