| I took my fuel tank (70 bus) to a shop to have it cleaned with acid. While it was soaking the tank bung on the bottom that the delivery tube/mesh filter fitting screws onto fell out leaving a perfect round original hole with perfectly sound metal all around. All that I can think of is that the original braze (?) and the shoulder on the fitting that rests against the inside of the tank was weak or rusty, and the acid disolved it. I don't even want to think what might have happened if it had fallen out while I was stopped at a red light. The tank is perfect otherwise, does anyone know how to save it? I would prefer to be able to replace the original bung fitting somehow, but I can't find anyone that sells one, and I am not sure how to best reattach it if I could find one. I would definitely appreciate any advice. |
