That means a lot now adays. Five years ago on Memorial Day I returned home from the desert to see my son for the first time.

Fly the flag and show your support.

So the only thing different was to raise the flag.

LOL.

I actually heard a radio spot today about a club party tonight and the ignorant slut had the audacity to say "happy memorial day!!"

WTF?

It is happy for the majority of people who have no idea what it actually stands for, they get a day off work and can get drunk...

Same here. 8) The flag is flying like it does every day, it's too hot to grill outside and beer sucks.

Do they even make a beer outta potatoes??

The Fire Department pager is on because we always have a couple crashes on memorial weekend. The mortuary phone is ringing non-stop; people asking about headstones, graves, who is buried where, etc...

Funny....I've never found a day too hot OR cold to grill. :?

I'll be firing up the grill for my family later this afternoon....rain or shine. Remember.... 3pm have a moment of silence!

to everyone who has fought and died for our freedom.

I spent 20 years and 12 days serving.

It's easy time when you see that on our worst day, we're a thousand times better off than most of the rest of the world. It's damn sure worth fighting for, regardless of what some would say to the contrary.

I went to my dad's grave today and they had full-sized flags on 10' poles lining all the little streets through the cemetery. The section he's in is for vets and they had rows and rows of flags all through the section. It was quite a site to see. I've never been up there on Memorial Day.

Damn cool.

I talked to a pretty girl named "Ruby" who's going to send the pics she was taking to my email. I'll post them when she does.

My sister-in-law, who has the least common sense of anyone I know, asked me yesterday as we were out on the front porch, "Why are you flying a flag? "
1. She said it like flying a flag is a bad thing.
2. She had no idea what yesterday was a holiday for.
I told her it was Memorial Day and that's why I was flying the flag. She just shrugged her shoulders.

Then I told her that I'd just gotten back from the cometary. She asked me if the funeral was for anyone she knew too.
