Hello
I came back from the meeting in Huckeswagen / Germany today.
I took not much pics but it was very nice and my favourite car was an unrestored split vert. Just the roof skinn was replaced because it was too way gone to drive with it. The rest was awesome almost untouched.
Here are some pics.

I thought that the Vert may have been from France because of the Marcal Headlights. Neat!
The Visor set up is the correct type for those early Split Verts. Pretty funky huh? |

Yes, that vert comes from France ! Very very interesting car.
It was sold new in PARIS by VW dealer. It has some similar details as other split window VW sold by the same dealer in Paris at that time : the marchal headlights and the little red lights in the side panels for exemple.
Actully the Marchal headlight should have the following glass and not those US glass it has for the moment. ( Bob, we will help you to find correct one)
That car has been siting the past year in a privat collection near REINS...
There are still some very nice untouched vintage and military car here in France. That vert remind me of the wonderfull 51 or 52 pastel green ragtop sold last year on thesamba... also from the same dealer in Paris, untouched car... Remember ?
Many french collectors ( i'm part of them ) would have loved to keep that car in France, but anyway, she is in good hands now, in Belgium . That only sadly remind that the vintage team is not strong in France. People mostly prefer call look and big engine over here...

BD should be licensed in 1954 as far as my info goes? BB is originally 1952... if I'm not right "mes coupains francais" have to correct me...
anyway it was a good and nice "old skool" show, without too much, I fully enjoyed it... and the back wind helped to fly almost home, a big HI to everybody I met and spoke, You all gave me a great time... and all together we made it happen....

I do not want to talk about $ but I am just wondering about the value of a preserved car vs a restored one?
In my opinion they have more value! Preserved car cannot be done, you have to find them and they have to be in good shape! You cannot do a preserved car from a pile of parts but you can restore one.
I really like that kind of car and understand why that car stole the show.
I am pretty sure that a lot of poeple would have dismantled and painted that 52 if they had the chance to find it...why to do that?
That 52 is a great car! Probably one of the last preserved Karmann 52 in the world and it is pure joy to look at the pics! |

That's cool, I think I saw that one at BC last year. Must be a '52 with those bumper guards? Anyone know?
Gets me motivated to work on mine..... |
