When the stock point assembly is replaced by a Compufire, the stock rotor has to be shortened. During a recent rebuild, I shaved the rotor shank until there was a gap between the bottom of the rotor and the Compufire rotor disk.
Then it occurred to me that the disk is now free to float up and down in that gap. Is it better to shave until the rotor and disk just touch? |

Since the rotor is head down in such a firm manner, I bet that you could get away with the one that you've already cut and use one of those nice soft white rubber "washers" that come on top of the discs in all of the computer CD-R containers these days.
