I look at it like its not really a good "first" VW. Its more for someone who collects well done, eclectic cars. Have you approached Randy Carlson?

"I liked this car so much I bought it!!
It's now sitting on SA Sprint Stars, has the correct dash pods and a split shifter modified to work on the late pan, as well as a 3 spoke wheel and early column."

Time to sell it 8)

mr. warehouse Tue Oct 07, 2008 9:03 am

Yeah. I bought it off ebay. No one else bid, so.....
It needed some running gear help and I added some more "correct" interior pieces as well as changing out the wheels, etc.

Someone else must have posted that. I planned on keeping a
"low key" so to speak.

I didn't want to post any pictures until after it came out in VolksWorld

Post them now then? I'd love to see it with the new interior bits....

To be honest, I didn't expect it to be out this soon and the car wasn't a priority to get on the road, so.....
I'm still working on the front end and the car is currently sitting without a gas tank and no tie rods so moving it to get good exterior shots won't happen this week. I can get some interior shots tonight / tomorrow morning though and post them.

mr. warehouse Tue Oct 07, 2008 12:00 pm

Here's a couple shots I took awhile back when I first got it and started with the changes.

I had to use an early column and graft a BMW Isetta end on it to get the Isetta 3 spoke wheel on there. Similar mods for the shifter as well. I've been waiting for a real split shifter with the plans of grafting a '65 "ball" on the bottom to make it all work right. In the meantime I used an early Bus shifter instead. I cut it down / re threaded it and put on a Brezelwerks KDF shift knob as well as KDF style pod knobs.

Like I said, I'll get some better picture later....

Those old dash pods look cool. I've never seen a radio like that...

What radio? The right pod is a blank pod with a black dome ashtray.

And who would like to guess where he got the idea? I know.
