I was told I had a PM from a posting.

I do not see it.
Also, I cannot get anything out of my out box.

The sender who sent me a PM said (in a message to my gmail.com account) that it looked like everything went OK, but I have nothing new in my in box.
The out box DID kick off the two messages to the person I am trying to communicate with.

You don't get PMs from postings, you get PMs when people PM you.
If they are in your Outbox, this means the person has not read it yet. Do not delete it or they will never get the message. |

You are right.
I should have said "from a posting, I was told I had a PM ."
If they are in your Outbox, this means the person has not read it yet. Do not delete it or they will never get the message.

| Sometimes it can be confusing as if the other person cancels the PM or sees it in their Outbox and deletes it, you still get the PM notification but there is no PM to read. |
