Most of the places i imagine being broke down dont get cell coverage. Unless you have a satellite phone.

I have to agree with that. I DO carry my cell phone 'cuz it just might get signal. But most places I offroad have no cell phone service available. That includes in my own driveway.

Just gonna throw this out in case some people don't know this. Often you can send and receive text messages even if you cant get reception for a call. Also texting will also often work during a major disaster when every one starts trying to make calls at the same time.

i got a old army bag and put in te following in cas i break down in "da ghetto " for my baja
set of metric wrenches and sockets
set of spare spark plugs duck tape elect connectors and tape
spare cv joint and socket to change it
spare hoese oil and fuel bailing wire and tie wraps
spare elect fuel pump vice grips plug wrench small air compressor and tire plugger, 3 valiums and 5th of jd in case all else fails
flares 2 qts of oil wire 16 ga 12 ga papertowels ruber gloves
water bottle for hangover after the 5th of jd and valiums !!
screwdrivers fuses led worklight / flashlight what else can i squeeze int this bag ????

I have a food savor vacuum sealer, I use it to put in flairs and match book's. I have 1 in every vehicle we own and the race car.
Can also vac/seal many other small items, has been a great investment for more than just food. :D

In a race I say probably not.
On a play weekend outing YES.
I do not have a holster in the car but I cary at least 3 gun's out.
MOSTLEY just for fun. Snakes are good with a bit of garlic salt and hot sauce. So I have been told........... :lol:

A couple of things I was taught to always have on me is a lighter and a knife.
In all of my vehicles I have water, flashlights, firstaid kits, and at least one blanket.
In addiiton to my usual emergency and crash boxes, if I know I'm headed out into the sticks I'll make sure I have a backpack, whistle, and at least one EMK.

I use EverSafe EMK's complete with "ThermaPouch" self heating entrees.
There are ten meals in every box. Entrees included Chicken Breast Strips, Beef Stew, Spaghetti, Chicken Parmesan, and Beef Enchilada. I've chowed down on a couple of packs to try them out, not bad at all. Comes out piping hot and the ThermaPouch makes a good hand warmer too.
Each meal comes with a hydrating drink, freeze dried coffee, pretzels or chips, cookies, an energy bar, apple sauce, dry roasted peanuts, salt, pepper, napkin, salsa or hot sauce, fork & spoon, moist towelettes, and even a finger tooth brush. The entree packages have survival "Pep Talks" printed on them for you to read while you wait for the food to heat. l have checked every package and none have an expiration date.

Survival at it's Best!

I think you forgot about one use, what they're made for :twisted:

You fill it with gasoline. The rest is explanatory.

Plug up a sucking chest wound? wow, thats kind of extreme. But will that help? The lung is still going to fill with blood.

:idea: I have had lit gas accidently thrown on me when i was 23. Ended up with first second and third degree burns from my chest up to face and neck. I have no real visible scars thanks to some GREAT doctors. I know a little about burns....
If you experience a burn while out camping, smother it with French's yellow mustard. It will start to relieve the pain almost instantly.... it has something to do with the vinegar content. It works,period. Try it,you'll thank me for it later.

^^ thats scarry :shock: Being on fire sucks hard. Having your face and chest burning is probably much worse then when my gas soaked arm went up. Luckly i was wearing a Carhartt.

I lived on MREs for months and i cant stand them. Ill eat dirt or a snake before a MRE again. Even the new ones are nasty. The out door back packing freeze dried food is ok and i carry them with me if need be. the post a couple up made my stomach turn. If you have to use them alot of hot sauce makes it all good.

My ex-wife (read "ho i used to be married to") is in the reserves and once gave me a BUNCH of the armys mre's. Some of them were actually pretty damn good. When I'm around one,i get a soldier to hit the PX for me and get some. The beef stew is good.... i love the PB&J crackers...

safety equipment should all be the same regardless of distance but you could not bring as many spare parts and tools.

You don't need to block off the exhaust for this to work. When the piston comes up on the compression stroke, the compressed air/ FUEL will be pushed down the hose and into the tire. I like to carry a small air compressor that flows enough air to run my air tools.

When it comes to a extra cv joint=

I know a lot of people carry extra cv's I do to but I found when I went to change my cv joint I did not have all the tools, lucky for me camp was close, I am sure that this in a no brainer for some, but thought I would touch off on the subject

Latex or some kind of gloves, (heat Grease ect.)
12 Point or Allen socket
Small Braker Bar
Spiral Clip
Hammer, (sometimes the splines are chewed up)
extra boot
Anti Seize or Grease
Rags
extra bolts
extra balls
plastic bag for the greasy parts
more cloves (just incase you dont want to get the steering wheel dirty)

the best ones are from noaa.gov

that's where all the other news and weather forecasters get their basic info. In particular they have a "forecast discussion" updated a few times a day that are incredibly helpful
