my shifter is very loose and floppy. I also have to push down a little to get 1st and 2nd. does anybody know how to change the shifter bushings on my 88 cabriolet?
Thanks for any help. |

the bushings on my 87 are all shot as well.
when you say "pushing down" do you mean down as in "like going into reverse" down? i have the problem (not a big one) of having to "find" first because the shifter will catch on the 3rd gear "guide" if you will, so i pull it towards 2nd, then up to 1st. to me its more of a wiggle and then up, but its second nature now, my friends that drive my car always drop it into 4th instead of 2nd, or 3rd instead of 1st.
though as far as changing them, i could use some pointers as its on my to do list as well. |

| Yes, it's like going to reverse but you dont push down as far. Push down slightly and up to 1st or down to 2nd. It sound like we have about the same problem. If I don't push down slightly it will catch 3rd or 4th as well. |
