"a real VW community"?
Jim, I think we have a pretty decent scene here. We have a solid group of friends and alot of cool cars....maybe if you were at the sonic for the last cruise, you would have seen that! Burn!!
Meeting 1 or 2 times a year at Sonic is a decent scene? Let's ask the California people if they think that equates to a "scene"! Burn back!!!
We tried more than once last year to get some folks together and no one ever showed up. There was a fair amount of chatter but the end result was 3 or 4 of showing up.
Other than the minimal VW scene we have, it is a great place to live. There are almost too many things to do around here. I have had to miss the past 2 shows because of other events that I wanted to attend more.
The weather can be unpredictable, but that's part of the fun of living here.....sun and warm one day, snow the next and warm the day after that.
I think after the Busses at the Brewery and Bandimere, we should be able to get a few things going on a regular basis. I don't think anyone has ever made a concerted effort in the past. |

It all depends. When it's snowing/really cold we can see in the teens, single digits sometimes. When it gets "fuckin cold" it's in the singles. It was -7* when I was commin up through Alamosa two January's ago in the '66 though. So cold the gas pumps wouldn't pump and I got free gas.
But in the "winter" it's like 30*-40* most of the time. It's not the arctic. It'll snow one day and the next day melt most of it off.
Bein so close to the sun has its advantages and disadvantages, you learn to live with them both.
Sorry for asteriks instead of degree symbols, but I'm lazy. |

We usually have 1 week of single digits in the dead of winter and thats it.
Like Ian says, snows and then melts over the next 1 or 2 days.
We get something like 310 days of sunshine a year. I moved from here from Cali, and it hasn't been too hard of a transition at all. |

| Plus, you adjust to the weather. 45 and sunny in the winter is t-shirt time. |

That's because it's a "warm" cold. :D

I worked outside for the last year. I liked it when it was 30 and sunny. The snow is overated. We usually only get hit with a couple big snowstorms a year. |

| Its crazy here! It snows like hell! It's cold, the wind blows all the time. You never see the sun. We have Tornados in the summer, It floods every Spring. I don't know why anyone would want to live here. If I were you, I would move to some place like Iowa or some place like that! |
