As my brother had pulled out the -51 pan yesterday so he could get out some farming equipment I decided that I'll assemble the chassis today..

I had allready started the work in mid May as I had split open the Barndoor transmission I had been given to me by a friend. I took the driveaxles and ring and pinions from the BD transmission.

Then split open the split transmission:

Swapped the ring gear and assembled:

Hi Hebster!

Looking good! Feels good that my old barndoor transmission is beeing used as I hoped it would be!

See you at Bug Run in Sweden next weekend!

Best Regards
Jocke

I don't know about the old split trannies, but it is common knowledge in the V8 car world that rings and pinions go together. As a set. No other way.

I think he means swapped-it over to the other side, not swapped for another ring.

That is exactly what I did... I took the Barndoor driveaxles and spool. Removed the ring gear from the split spool and mounted on the Barndoor spool to mate with the original split pinion.

And I also did swapp it over to the other side in the split transmission. :D

Thanks! Yes, I had to clear out in the garage so I decided to assemble the parts and mount them on the pan to get all the pieces in one place.

The front is yet with stock spindles but will get the Barndoor frontspindles soon too. When I make the bushings for the linkpins I'll make a set for you too.

I will give you all the details next weekend! :D
