Hi
Anyone know where to get the metal channel for the doorglass of a '52 split (it has crotchcoolers & notched door glasses) ?
Thanks in advance for any help... |

| No. Good luck on that. They are hard to find intact. I actually looked into having some made, but the tooling required for the compound curves prohibited thier reproduction at any cost effective measure. Gary?? |

Do you mean the window channel that guides the glass and has the rubber and felt, or the "sash" that holds the glass at the bottom. Window channels are out there, and for some reason the straight piece is way harder to find than the longer curved one.
The sashes are much harder to find as they rust out very fast. You can make one by welding together a couple pieces of the later vent window glass doors, but you'd still need the guide part that accepts the regulator rollers.
I might have some glass guide channels if you are really stuck... |

Here is a pic of the sash/regulator piece I put together (the bottom one) to make the set pictured, the bottom roller track can just be re-spot welded back on the bottom of 3 pieces that are butt welded together, these channels are from WW. Takes a little work but its not too complex, unfortunately I don't offer the service or this item at this time.
The longer upper window mohair covered channels are harder to find, but a few of us out there have these around and probably for sale one way or the other. The back short vertical channels are harder to find I agree, but since they are straight you can use one of a few vintage window channels, like what are used for vintage Fords. Restoration Specialities in PA is one of several sources for pieces like these, once covered in mohair and using a close to stock size rubber channel it can't be told from an original.

| The guy I used made one of the short back channels first, which was easy, then attempted the longer, curved top piece and we decided to forget it. I have the repro rear short piece if anyone's interested. It's spot-on. Oh, and it's stainless while we were at it. |
