| having problems getting my dells jetted correctly. they are 45 dellortos with 38 vents on a 1904 with an engle 120 and 9:1. where should i be to start out? i have jetted before, but cant tell if i should go up or down on the sizes. right now i'm at 70 idles, and 150 mains. it likes to load up when just driving at like 1/4 throttle. at higher rpm floored, it popps pretty bad out the exhaust and stumbles pretty bad. |

Your vents are pretty big for a 1904, unless you have some crazy porting and cam to go with it.
What is you air correction jet size? What serial number emulsion tubes do you have? |

| i'll look a little later. i'm going to try to get some smaller venturis, what would you suggest? i set the mixture screws so they are all the way in, not it runs way better, so i guess that means idles are way too big. i think i might try some 60's. i'll get air correction jets and emultion tube numbers next chance i get |

| 34 vents would be closer unless radical porting and wicked cam are used. |

Or even 30mm's or 32mm's with stock heads and mild cam.
BTW: I just built a "Sweep The Floor" 1904 with stock heads and C-35 cam. Its a fun little engine in my Baja. I might take off the single 40IDF and run a pair of 40 Del's. When I do that I'll have a better idea on the jets for you. But yes if running your mix screws all the way in makes things better than your idles are too big. |

| its got some mild porting, and an engle 120. i wonder if the 30 vents from my 36's would fit in the 45's, i doubt it. i'll try it though |

That is because 70 idle jets are WAY too big. Try a 65. |

| i put my 36 dells on, with 30 venturis, and some 55 idles in it. didnt change much. still only ran on 2 cylinders in the idle circuit. i put the gas out of my wrecked '65 bug which is "old" 87 octane. changed the oil(it was pretty low too) and now it runs perfect. feels like jets need to be bumped up a size, but it runs smooth, and has great power. any ideas on whats going on? i usually put 92 octane in it. it has 9.37:1 with an engle 120. |

45 dells with 38 vents are more suited to a 2.3 powerhaus.
Go right down to 30 or 32 vents, 55 or 60 idle, 130 mains. 180 air corrector and .1 or .2 emulsion tubes. 33 or 35 squirt jets will help too.
Smaller vents give better torque and botom end response. |

Sorry to revive an old thread, but I'm curious where you get the parts for your Dell? I'd like to pick some up locally but I can't find any shops that have parts for them. |
