With gas prices reaching $4.00 even driving my bug is starting to take a bite
out of the pocket.
How many of you are using the bus more?
How is your experience ?

| It's been over $4 here in southern California for a bit now. I recently purchased a used 4 cylinder BMW and will be converting to ethenol/gas flex fuel system in order to keep driving. Time constraints are e big issue with me not using public transportation. I am looking into different routes in order to figure out what mode of public transportation is best for me. |

We've been spoiled since the late 80's. Gas prices will continue to go up, get used to it.

| Ethanol takes twice as much energy to produce a gallon than gas does. Don't belive the hype. |

| I wish I could take Public Transportation to work, but with my schedule it doesn't work for me... A train/bus doesn't leave early enough for me to make it to work on time... When I lived downtown and worked in Rancho it worked out well and I saved tons of money, went about 2 years without a car. Now that I live in Folsom and work in a complex off of 160 the transportation is far from my work and doesn't run early enough. |

Interesting topic....and I hate to use it as a plug, but my job centers around helping active duty military and qualified federal employees by enrolling them into the Transportation Incentive Program, where they can get vouchers to help pay for public transportation. Some covers the entire cost of public transportation:
Vanpool
Bus/Trolley
Coaster (light rail)
I'm amazed that alot of people don't even know we exist. With the rising price of gas, traffic congestion, and more concern for the environment, it's time to reap the benefits since they exist.
This is actually a national program. I have heard that some private and state companies (non-federal) have similar systems in place to assist their employees in utilizing public transportation. |

Which branch of service and which base? I'd be interested to see if we can implement something like that here. |

Bull Sh-t. That was with 1980's technologies. They are using 2010 technologies now.
And the by-products are a saleble item. Cattle feeders love to get the DDG. (Dried Distiller Grain). |

I run the program for the Navy side of the house, at Naval Base San Diego, 32nd Street Naval Station, and for the GS/NSPS federal employees (civil service). Marine Corps is covered as well and they have their own POC's. I would assume they have something in place for the Army side. PM me if you need more info.
Can't be a government contractor though. |

Not bad in Orange County. A couple bucks gets you a pass good for 24 hours of unlimited rides, and the buses are clean and pretty nice. They don't run them very often though, so be prepared to sit and wait for 20-30 minutes before one shows up. |
