alright. i know ive introduced myself a long time ago when i first joined, but only recent have i actually started working on my beetle, because it has been in storage and i recently got in an accident with my beater car so the bug is my daily driver for right now.
i am 18 years old as of may 2 and have had this beetle since september of 07. only til about a month ago though have i actually started work on it, and its looking great. here are a few pics.
as you can see, i spent a few hours underneath the front end sanding everything. i then put a rust protector, primer, and the purple paint as you can see. its beatiful in person. i really wish i took a before picture so you could ahve seen how nasty it was.
the newly redone floor pan. again, this thing was rusty and ugly as all hell. i spent hours under there sanding it, and then put a rubberized coating on it, and then painted the middle of the pan purple.
alright one of the questions i wanted to ask is how much you think i should lower the front. as you can see the back has already been lowered. i was thinking about 2" dropped springs? i figured that would be the best bet.
more questions will definitely be asked so thank you in advance! |

| ok, the rear isnt already lowered. its the super sag, over the years the rear end tends to sag and needs to be readjusted for stock ride height. mine was at the same stance as yours when i got it. i moved my springplates a few notches to raise it back up to sit level. read about lowering in the sticky section at the top of the beetle section. nice looking beetle btw. see mine in my gallery. |

Just my $.02...I'd fix the hood so it closes with something other than a bungie cord first.
71/72 Super hoods are quite difficult to find...no one makes new ones.
Like the purple...my daughter wants one that color. |

It would have been a very solid bug for me to buy it being purple. Ans a SB at that would have to be almost perfect for low price  |

and when i bought the car the lady told me when they were painting it her brother lowered the back and i have this book she went by but i lost it, its a popular book i forgot what its called. but yea it doesnt sag... its got stiff suspension in the back.
what kind of lowering springs would you recommend me to put in the front? links too. |

1. Dont be discouraged by any super haters on here.
2. Supers sat higher in the front cuz of the struts, Your unequal ride height looks normal, Dont know why the P.O. would want to lower it more in the back without touching the front :?
3. lower the front until its a tad lower than the back, that would be trick. i'd say 3"
4. matching front wheels (i know you have them u just need tires)
5. keep up the good work! |
