Any suggestions on how to get the pics to load here?

You had ride.html in your URL, and you didn't need that. :) So like, this works:

They look great. Good to see two flat windshield supers in such a great condition. Your new auto stick is a great find.

They're both '72s. The orange one is a later 72, evidenced by the later seatbelts, seatbelt warning light etc. The red one is an earlier 72. The orange one is a four spd stick and the red one is a three spd auto-stick.

The red one has some really nice original options. It has the woodgrain dash inserts, glovebox door, grills around the steering wheel. It also has the original Wolfsburg shifter knob.

I think that the most interesting thing about these cars are the colors.
Get this... Both cars were repainted by the previous owners. The orange car was originally cherry red and the red car was originally bright orange! So, what you are looking at are original colors except on the opposite cars!

The previous owner of the currently red car apparently didn't believe in waxing paint! Honestly, when I took posession of her about a month ago I wasn't sure if she was red or primed red, since the paint had gone flat!
It took quite a bit of rubbing and rubbing compound to bring back that finish! Worth every minute of it I can tell you!

Both cars have completely rebuilt engines with less than 50 miles on each!

I love 72 Supers! As you can tell... I'm on the lookout for a yellow one and a green one as well! It's not just a hobby, it's an obsession!

Looks like your orange one has bumper shocks and a flat windscreen. If so, you might check how your spare tire stores in the trunk. If it stands up in the front of the trunk, you have a regular sedan. The bumper shocks pretty much confirm that the year is 1974 or later also. Your VIN# should confirm the year.

Quote: The bumper shocks pretty much confirm that the year is 1974 or later also.

Both cars are indeed 1972 Super Beetles.
I do know enough about ACVWs to know the difference.

The previous owner of the orange one swapped out the front fenders and the bumper/bumpershocks with units from a 74. An easy swap.
In this case the later bumper does not confirm the car as a later car.

Liking the 74 bumper setup as I do, I decided to leave it that way.

Since I restored the car, ya'd think I would know about the position of the spare tire and the struts, not to mention the windscreen and the dashboard. :D

Good deal, I'm glad you know your cars. FYI, I wasn't trying to sound like an asshole, just pointing out the differences I saw and know between a 1972 and 1974 models. Nobody else asked or spoke up about it, so I did. Some folks here really don't know what they have or what they're looking at. Thanks for the update.

Your cars look really nice too.
