I am in the final process of bvuying all my stereo components. I have two six in. speakers for the front and two 6x9s for the rear. I just purchased a bazooka 8"in bass tube that i am going to install below the rear speaker shelf. I know how to install the 4 regular speakers but have a few questions about the tube. Any help is apprecciated

The auction stated that it came with adaptor cable for power/audio connections. What does this do?

second what other items do i need to install the tube?

third what is the proper way to install the tube? I have heard that you shoould face them toward a corner is this correct?

and lastly how much bass can i expect from the tube?

1992 called, they want their speakers back.

The power cable obviously supplies power, there is an enclosed amp in a bass cannon. The audio cables carry the audio signal to the speaker. You shouldn't need anything else to install it. As far as bass response, when I was 16 it seemed decent, but they sound crappy at best IMHO.

Hey I understand that it isn;t the best setup in the world but I was limited with money and space. But thanks for the help

The tube has very clear instructions that come with it.You will need RCA cables,a ground wire & a 12 volt source...
Go with 6.5s not 6x9s...All I run is a set of 6.5s in the doors & the tube in the rear & in is way too loud.I have it set up for clarity & heavy bass.I listen to mostley harder rock like metallica to a little mash up type stuff & you wouldnt belive how good it sounds..

What about some old school Cerwin Vegas powered by a Coustic380? That would be a cool set up.

Coustic is crap. I used to run Orion.

Those tubes do suck. You can do way better with used drivers off craigslist and some plywood scraps. Seriously.

your bazooka is fine for a starter system. there are lots better, but lots worse too.

I'm dissapointed with current made in china car stereo gear. Very few companies are still made in the US, Soundstream used to be one of the best, now it's made in china. same with ads, lanear power, lanzar, phoenix gold, all of the smaller companies that used to cater to the high end crowd. I still cruise craigslist looking for old school gear like the old blue soundstream refrence class amps.

Soundstream made some good stuff. IIRC, they were originally based out of Folsom.

One thing you can do to REALLY help a Bazooka sound good and live a long time is to load the driver against a space. Basically put the tube so the speaker end is only an inch or two from a back seat or wall. Really keeps the speaker tight and sounding crisp.

Bazooka's weren't popular because they didn't SLAM, but if you don't listen to (c)rap, you'll like it.

I'm definately not a rap listener, I was looking for something to fill out the void in bass that most coaxial speakers have. Sounds like this should do the job.

jensen 6x9's and a kraco deck is the bomb

When I had a bug, I cut a board to fit pretty much air-tight between the back window and the rear seat. I mounted a single 12' dual voice coil MTX sub on the outside of the box pointed down into the luggage area. Tossed in a couple of three way 6x9's on either side, a couple of 5 1/4' co-axials up front and rocked some Guns and Roses out the sony tape deck.

Good times.

Edit: I forgot to mention that I had a Bazooka tube, and it sucked. The single 12" was way more bangin'.

The fuck do I want to listen to your music for? Turn that shit down.

If you have a deck with rca out puts, you need to run an rca cable to the bazooka tube. You also want to run a remote wire from the deck to the tube so it will turn the unit on/off with the deck. Then, you need to run a clean ground (bare metal) and a decent size power wire straight from the battery, thru a fuse block or at least an inline fuse. Try to keep the ground pretty short and run the power away from any speaker wire. If your deck does not have pre-outs (RCA'S), you have to buy a converter. Basically, it's a wire harness that connects to your existing speaker wires (6x9's) and converts the signal to the amp (remote, and rca). If you have an old school bazooka tube with no build in amp, you have to run a separate amp. I believe the recent tubes have built in amps, so they are pretty simple to install. Remember, it's a tube so it may roll. i got in a wreck (62 beetle) and the speaker shelf with 6x9's hit me in the back of the head. The sub box folded the rear seat back and ended up almost by the hand brake. Everything is a missle hazard if it is not bolted down or secured well. If i had my kids in the back, it could of been ugly. I believe the bass tubes come with straps. If not, get some and use some rubber to separate them from the bass enclosure and prevent vibration or rattling. Good luck and enjoy the jurney.

1998, I was rockin' 2 18" Cerwin Vegas and 2 "Punch 150's", oh, and a Coustic 360 for my "mids and tweets" (in a Geo Tracker none the less)

I just love the constant ringing in my ears now. Just a reminder of how stupid the "stereo years" were.

As others have already said, don't expect much! You would be better off to sell that tube and build you a small box with 1 10" SoloBaric running off of a monoblock amp.

I did a 4 channel Baja amp (80 RMS per channel) with 4 Alpine 5 1/4" (2 above the foot rest and the pedals and a pair in the rear kicks. I honstly wasn't expecting a whole lot from this.

Front channels have a switchable treble boost and the rears have a switchable bass boost.

It sounded better than I thought, so I spent a little time dialing it in. The rear speakers are in a relatilvely large enclosure (bottom of rear seat) and the fronts are in a pretty tight space. After spending an hour or so adjusting levels and the boosts, this actually gives a nice tight bass with emough thump and overall a really nice sound (about $300 total in it).

I play everythingh from classic rock, bluegrass, blues, metal, heavy pop - little bit of everything and it works well without sucking up space in the car.

I serviced a few of them almost 10 years back , and they dont really put out much bass .IMHO they are disapointing
The amp will on average produce 40 watts .
It has weak Mosfet type drivers in it and is not really all that hot .
The speaker itself is weak and also viberates apart easilly .
The last one I had I blew the cone out with a modified Pioneer SA - 8500 home stereo amp .
The speaker was smoking at 75 watts and I blew the cone out at about 150 to 175 watts .

I agree with lee , the older Cerwin Vegas kick ass .

The only think great about the bass tube is you can take it out
But no one is stealing them anymore ....
