The amp will on average produce 40 watts .
It has weak Mosfet type drivers in it and is not really all that hot .
The speaker itself is weak and also viberates apart easilly .
The last one I had I blew the cone out with a modified Pioneer SA - 8500 home stereo amp .
The speaker was smoking at 75 watts and I blew the cone out at about 150 to 175 watts .

I agree with lee , the older Cerwin Vegas kick ass .

The only think great about the bass tube is you can take it out
But no one is stealing them anymore ....

I've been looking to find a couple old school red ring 12's for the last year. Some of the ones on ebay are from 2000. They consider those vintage. :?
I've found a few 4ohm house sets though.......

http://denver.craigslist.org/ele/679740021.html Most likely they are 8 ohm , alot of the older house amps used the same outputs for front & rear speakers .
They then had a 4 ohm load on them .
You could always wire the 2 together in parallel , this would give you 4 ohm input .
It wouldn't pound as hard as 2 , 4 ohm speakers , but it is gentle on the amp outputs , and it usually take a good shitkicking

I would say , buy them .
They seem to be a good deal .
