I have a 76 Audi 100LS and the parts for this car have vanished from the planet. I have read that the 100LS block and the Porsche one are the same and that Porsche just put a different head on the block. Does anyone know if I can put a porsche 924 head gasket on a 100LS? I assume the cylinders, water, and oil passages should be the same so it should work but I just wanted to verify. I just had my head rebuilt and this is what is holding me back from reassembling this car.
Thanks much. |

| You don't have the old gasket to compare? A Porsche shop might be able to cross reference it. The 924 was a pig of a car. It had the Audi motor (originally designed for use in a truck). The 924 was kind of like the VW-Porsche 914 only it was the Audi-Porsche 924. The motor was mounted at a funny angle making it difficult to bleed all the air out of the cooling system so a lot of 924s blew head gaskets when not serviced properly. I hope that your Audi motor isn't tilted like the Porsche. |

Yeah the audi motor is a slant 4cyl.
I was able to finally find a guy in Fla who had NOS parts and picked them up.. Thanks much for the info. I still don't know if the porsche head gasket is the same. |
