Regarding wheel adapters for early buses (e.g. 1967) from wide 5 lug to Ford or Chevy pattern - any opinions on good or bad? Any bad experiences?
Not sure whether to buy wide 5 lug VW wheels or go with adpater and buy Ford or CVhevy wheels.
Thanks!! |

| Adapters can be ok for buggies if checked frequently but I would not use them on a street car or bus. Redrill your drums for Chevy if that's what you're after. |

| The problem with adapters are people not knowing how to install them properly (tighten the studs properly). I've run adapters on a few cars with very nice results. |

Yeah, I'm sure that has to be a factor. I'm really torn, as I have put fender flares on the back of a bus and want to put wider wheels/tires on the back. There are many more choices with Ford/Chevy patterns as opposed to wide 5 VW wheels.
Thanks for the reply!! |

| I used to run some aluminum wheel adapters on a 67 baja to fit Chevy wheels in the rear - one of the wheel adapters sheered off when I was going uphill - maybe if they are made of good metal... |

| I am running 4 to wide 5 adapters on the front of my street car. No issues for the 1000 miles they have been on so far. |
