I learned that without the rants, I finally had time to learn the search function, which in turn, actually helped me learn about VWs.

i learned that some moron narrowed the wrong end of the car some years back, seems everyone on samba jumped on his bandwagon, and now we have a million abortions with narrowed beams.
not only do they look like ass (unless narrowed for a wide wheel) but they drive like ass too.
I remember back when i saw the first narrowed beam, prob mid 90s, and i was like, that stupid shit will never catch on.
damn was i wrong. i take a vacation from aircooleds for about 6 years, come back and jeezus. every new vw enthusiast cant wait to narrow their car so far that it looks stupid, and ruins more perfectly good parts.
then i saw the addition of tubs on the front of a bus, i sat in it, and i couldnt see out the windsheild. what a stupid idea. jeezus, how low do you have to be to feel special?
That is what ive learned from the samba.

Oh and the word patina. which is the way ive had all my busses and bugs since about 92.
didnt know that would become a fad. :)

What I gained from hanging around here is that I'm not the only person on the planet that likes old VWs.
When I moved to Bella Coma people here just starting to get out of VWs and getting Datsuns and Toyotas with better heaters.
I started seeing the old VWs sitting in the back yards and fields.
I got on a collecting tangent and been trying to get one of each type 2 body style I could find . so far`so good -panel -SC-DC-deluxe micro bus

Before the internet I thought there were a few good people in California that were still into VWs now it good to see there are like minded folks all over the`world .
