well i picked up a 63 on saturday. she needs little to be a wonderful daily. she cranks right up every time (even though the previous owner didnt have a clue about bugs whatsoever).
story is that the uncle of the guy i bought it from was a mechanic who loved to tinker with the bug. well, he got sick and you guessed it, he died. leaving this bug with inknown goodies in it to his nephew.
i bought it off the nephew. the wiring is a mess but im anxious to get in there and find out what that old man did!

Looks like a great find, how’s it look on the under side, any rust? What did it cost you?
I’m always looking for the brother/sister of my 1963.
Which was built, May 24th 1963 it left the factory on
May 30th 1963 and arrived at Oliver Imported Cars in Berkeley California a few weeks later.
It was purchased in August of 1963. I see yours doesn’t have an emblem either so it must have been made in late 1963.
My VIN number is 5559673, what VIN number is your 63?
