 It is the starter button. I was going to ask about that. When I jumped in the square in Tahoe and turned the ignition key nothing happened.....tried it again....nothing....spotted that button and it cranked right up. Is this correct or has the PO just wired that button to be used as the starter. If that is the case then what was the button for??

No bentley manual yet, it is on the list.

Your ignition switch is shot. Here is the replacement: http://www.vwispwest.com/product.php?ispproduct=vwispwest&cat=347&page=1&part=311905851A. I had the same thing, and now I do not have the push button, I love having just one thing to do. Plus things work better. If you want more information, go to here: http://www.type3.org/ and post the question. There was just a bunch of discussion, but I did not keep them, but someone may have, and be able to help.

Of course, you'll have a hole in the dash where that stupid button was. The good news is that you can install a European style "accessory plug" there and have a nice dealer accessory to plug the damn hole.

The hole could be welded with care, going around it several times, and keeping things cool. Or, get a piece and weld it in. Then, you could get a can of spray paint mixed up, and repaint it.

Nice, it looks cleaned up already. Correct hubcaps too, those are usually missing.

Those houses behind you are weird, the one house has it's roof going on to the neighbor's property and there is no gap between them.

I probably have some side mirrors somewhere if you want to pick up the correct ones.

NICE score! looks like you have your work cut out for you though, I saw a lot of surface rust that needs attention before it becomes cancer. other than that looks like its in great shape!

Looks like my '66's twin!

Nice score!

I think all Pigs were Euro-spec. Not 100%... This would be the first I've seen without the side markers.

Medford. The photo was taken in early, early spring.

I was just poking around the forums and in this thread rustyfastback took photos of two Pigs. His euro variant has side markers, the junkyard one does not appear to have them. My fenders dont look replaced. I could always ask the PO, he had the square for 9 years.

No, there were U.S. spec Pigalles and Teaks.

Thanks Tram!

If anything I was going to say-weird yours has side markers. In all the ones Ive seen I ve never seen them with side markers. The three here in the junk yard do not have markers. My old 66 black pig had none eithor. I think you have a cool one there.
