| Im wondering if the struts out of a 84 cabriolet are at all shorter then the stock strut in my 81 caddy. the reason i ask is because i want to lower the front down just a little bit because the rear leaf springs are sagging and i want to level the truck up. |

| Probably not, but unless you're going to lower the truck anyway, I'd find a machine shop to re-stress the springs back into shape. It's nothing more than pulling the springs and putting them into a hydraulic press to push the centers back into shape. Shouldn't cost much, and it'll save you your ride comfort. |

The strut height will have no effect, as the springs are what dictate the car's ride height; the struts merely control the bounce.
If you need to lower the vehicle, I recommend lowered springs and compatible struts. If you use the old struts(or even new OE ones) with lowered springs, their life will be a very short one.
Make sure you install new upper stut mounts/bearings whenever you have the units out of the car, and plan on an alignment any time you do the job as well....another good reason to 'do it right, do it once.' 8) |
