I'm looking at an original owner 1995 Eurovan Winnebago 5spd. It has a new clutch, CV's and t-belt and has had synthetic oil since day 1. All the camping gear works. The top is in great shape...interior a little dirty. It has 320000Km (198Kmi) but it has been well maintained. It could definitely use a paint job, windshield and tires and a good cleaning. I am proposing $11K on condition of a PPI. Around here the cheapest 95 camper is in the low $20's with 100,000Km less...
Just looking for some advice on common problems, pricing...etc.

The 95 EVC stick is the bulletproof option for these cars. The I5 engine is super tough and the stick transmission is typical VW....smooth and reliable.
That said, 200k miles is a lot of miles. These engines commonly go 250K and more with little issue, but you are on the downhill side of things. Here's the current EV listing for Seattle which has several 95 EVC's in it. I think they are all automatics which is generally thought to be a negative since EV automatics have reliablilty issues.

Prices in Seattle are probably a little higher than other places since there is a lot of these cars here and consequently it's a fairly active market for them. I can't speak to your market, but the Canadian market out here in B.C., is higher than Seattle.
I would guess your car in Seattle would sell around $10-$11k due to the mileage. I think most folks think a car is about done at 200k, so they want a deal.
Best of luck in your decision. |

| Thanks for the link. Ya, I've been thinking that its got to be a steal, given the miles, or else it's no sale. I'd have no problem swapping out the engine, doing some clean up and maybe some paint...but that stuff adds up quick. Maybe it would just better to be patient and troll for a lower mile unit, or pick one up in the US and drive back....of course, lowballing is always an option.... |

I found where I live in Minneapolis a 1995 EuroVan Camper Automatic, loaded, with only 65,000 miles.
The dealer wants $25,000 for it, but it looks like it has never been used.
I took it for a test drive and it seems fine, my only concern is the gas mileage. But I have a 2004 Toyota Rav 4 that is only getting about 20 mpg. Also the financing.
If the wife goes for it I would trade my Rav in and put the $10,000 toward the Camper. Hell if I am going to get the same gas mileage I might as well have something I can use.
Need quick Advice!! |
