Hello-
I've read that Porsche used 25/36 hp VW crankshafts in their pre-a 356's. If so, NLA Limited appears to be carrying a repro of that crank. Does anyone know anything about it?

| Broken cranks was a fairly common problem in the 50s. I talked to an older VW mechanic who said when one used to come in, they would replace it and tell the owner the problem was something else to protect their reputation. |

I had a crank break. Unbeknownst to me it came out of an engine that had exhaust valve #3 break off. It had a crack between #3 and #2 throw. It took about 2 thousand miles before it broke completely. I was on my way home from the beach when one of my passengers noticed a new noise. The engine ran flawlessly until I stopped at which time it made a noise like a handful of bolts in a blender. It idled smoothly enough but the noise would make your hair stand on end. I drove it the remaining 30 miles home without incident.
