Damn charlie, didnt know you went and got that.

Now ya just gotta not be lazy and get it going.

you are about to find out how expensive a vert is to build. you will be amazed at just the price for all the rubber seals.

vintagevolks Fri Jun 20, 2008 9:05 pm

He will get to it soon Mike.. Glad it went to some one that will do it up. I had know time for it..

bugdust Fri Jun 20, 2008 9:19 pm

Don't worry Mike, I priced the big & little stuff before I got it. It won't be a slap it together & go deal like the last few. I'm not even going to start on it until the red 64 is on the road and the 67 body & ragtop are gone. Once the wife saw it she agreed that total body-off is the only way to go.

Don't expect much to get done to it real soon. I will be collecting parts while I finish the 64 hardtop for my son. Then, I will start on the vert.

Thanks Bob!!

Seen that one coming ....Good luck with the vert. 8)

New plan. This thing is a lot rougher than I thought from the pics. The front and left side have been hit and badly "repaired" and the wiring is totally hacked. I mean really hacked. It's missing more of the vert stuff than I thought and the chrome will all have to be redone. So...
It will get a quickie paint job (flat red?), lowered, either a set of polished 5-spokes or some painted chromies, skirts and maybe a top?? I'll go through the mechanicals of course.

It's all good. It will be a fun "no worries" cruiser.

my65vert Tue Jun 24, 2008 7:33 pm

Damn, so when will it end up at my house?

Don't sell out man.. Are you in some sort of hurry to get it done? You found some damage==are you gonna be happy just masking up the hack work that someone else botched?? Make it into a show car if you want one.. and don't give into the pressures and expectations brought on by Chip Foose and the other 7 day miracle workers!! Take your time, and do it right..

yeah take ur time with it. u dont want to end up in the abortions thread. save the 62 dont hack it up. another one back on the road 8)

It needs a drivers rear Quarter and front clip from the drivers door forward.Cool car though,Very cool.

bugdust Thu Jun 26, 2008 3:53 pm

It will never be a show car while my broke ass owns it. The original plan was to do an amatuer resto but I don't have the money or patience for that. I'll get it on the road and drive it. I've had cars with nice, shiny paint that you worry about every time you park it. This won't be one of them. Put it in the abortions thread if you want. You should see my 63 ragtop!!

I can watch it collect dust in the garage while I "do it right" or I can slap it together and grin like a mofo while I drive the snot out of it. 8)

I will rebuild the carb this weekend but for now I just changed the accelerator pump and put it back on. It fired right up! It runs but not great. I did drive it out of the yard and down to the corner and back. I even got into 2nd gear. It has no brakes except the e-brake if you hold it.

But, it runs!! :D

6Kabrio7 Thu Jul 03, 2008 5:50 pm

my 67 pretty much needs everything including extensive rust repair and a rear apron..don't give up though I never see pre-68 verts driving down the street. every time I go somewhere every person I see is looking at my car

my65vert Thu Jul 03, 2008 5:58 pm
