they said they have not received these since the first of the year. I also was looking for one. Found one at the classis, but honestly they are really hard to find. Keep your eyes posted on the classifieds and im sure you will find one.

Get some contact cleaner and clean them really well, as dirty as they are they will only work intermittantly. Around here Radio shack sells cleaner for rotary dial TV tuners (remember those?) which is very good for this kind of thing.

you know come to think of it my dome light does not work and it has a new bulb in it and the wores or hooked up correct...maybe I should clean theses pieces...what part actually should be cleaned?

I cleaned mine using a Dremel tool with a small wire wheel attachment.

Clean the whole backside area, around the spring & the area whre the wire slips into. If you look closely, you'll notice two pointed arrows that actually make the grounding connection, make sure the contact area is clean

I will give it a shot...and see if that gives me light!

That sounds a little too aggressive for me. If you grind the plating off the contact, it will oxidize very quickly as opposed to being just dirty. A gentle scrub with a small wire brush and some good contact cleaner shoud do the job just fine. Although I will say that new is best.

Can you scuff them up with some sand paper?

I could not recommend sandpaper.

Have you ever seen the Dremel accessory wire wheel? It couldn't break the skin at 500rpm, let alone remove some plating. It'll polish the heck out of the Copper contacts on those switches though

I use contact cleaner, a 'bright boy' which is like a pink eraser except it has more grit and is used for cleaning model railroad and slot car track, and emery boards I steal from my wife. Sometimes a white vinyl eraser will do it.

Most important thing is to get em to ground properly- could be the switch, could be the light socket contacts.

Please give me a hand I am getting fustrated.....

ok I just got out of the garage I cleaned both door switches up really good Drivers side has two wires connected together that go into the rear of the switch correct? and the passengers switch has one wire...got them both back in the car...Nuthing happens. I remove the dome lamp and disconnet the wires marking them to what went where...I cleaned up all the metal contacts in the dome light swith and install it back in as I am installing it back in I get a spark on the side where one of the little niples sticks out but not light and the fuse is fine....so I then take the dome light unit and sit the metal prongs holding the bulb in against the body(where the headliner glues too headliners) outside of where the dome light normally sits and BAM it lights up for a split second and goes out...I check the fuse and it blew any suggestions...is it the switch maybe? do I have something ass backwards??? Dang I hate wiring.

Single wire from passenger side switch goes to drivers side, and is soldered together with wire that goes from drivers side to light switch in the light. Other side of switch is grounded, and the wire from the other end of the bulb goes to fuse box.

Check the length of the wire sticking into the door pin switches- if its too long, you might be shorting out into the body at the pin switch.

Since you got a light for a sec, it sounds like you grounded the other end (opposite the switch in the light) of the bulb holder against the body- that end does not ground, as the light switch grounds.

Look at the type 1 wiring diagram. I had issues with mine because the plastic switch in the light itself was cracked, moving a bit and not allowing a good ground at the switch

on the drivers side door switch I have the two wires stripped and twisted together into the switch not soldered...I will check on the wire being to long though.....as for the dome lamp the red wire I think goes into the switch side and the switch faces the front of the car correct.... since this is the only side that gets grounded what the heck part of the light is touching a ground? is it that little nipple on the side? or is there something up in the dome light hole touching it cause I don't see anything up there.

There's your problem. The switch side is connected to Ground. That way, the switch can choose between On (constant ground on dome light opening), door (Brown wire to pin switches) or Off.
