Hey,hey,
I've been into Bays for a number of years, but only recently bought one, and only recently discovered thesamba. While I was looking through the forum recently my girlfriend asked what kind of questions do people post? all sorts i replied...WELL i'm sick of you looking at campers and talking about campers so will you ask if it will effect our relationship?
She was jokin(I think) but i said i'd post anyway, so is anyone out there that addicted? Code: |

YEP..
and to her horror when we all get together in real life (camping in our campers)
she guessed it we talk about our campers..
but do you know whats worse then a buncha VW guys talking about VW campers???
it's soo bad she couldn't even imagine it..
our women sitting around talking about us talking about campers.
my girl thinks the camper is the best.. she's slept in a tent on the ground for too many years.. now when it rains she's far more pleasant. |

I have yet to meet a girl who was into VWs as much as myself. I was with one girl (with=fling) who drove a '71 Super Beetle. Was pretty cool and loads of fun to drive. We showed up at parties and everyone thought it was awesome to see a bus and a bug always parked next to each other.
Found out here dad did all the work it needed and even took it to a shop for a valve job . She eventually smashed the whole front end, thankfully there's nothing but space in the front, and had the shop do that too.
We don't hang out as much anymore... |

My wife gets bugged I am so concerned about my bus. But she often tells others how great it is for camping, everything all neatly in its place in the cabinets; well-organized little kitchen; dry and comfy when it's raining outside, even with the dogs inside with us.
It very well may affect your relationship with her. Depends on whether she enjoys it very much or not, and how addicted you get and how much time you're spending on it rather than her. Hopefully you can entice her to be involved in fixing it up with you so she will feel some ownership. Have her help you make design decisions, so it's "her bus" too. If your curtains are shot and you're going to have non-stock material for new ones, she could help you pick out a pattern you both like, maybe even make them, so she can be proud of them. |

Relationships:
These ones seem to work out alright:
You might be talking about the Bus now, but if she finds where she fits in this strange love triangle, you'll be talking about how damn cool she is for being there through ups and downs, engine pulls and oil changes.

hahaha *cough*
I agree with some of the statements here. Your girl can love your bus too if you give her a reason to besides just taking time away from her. Let her help out with it and make some choices. Take her camping along the way. She'll love the memories you guys will share and hopefully think of you every time she sees a bus driving down the road. Make it her bus too. |

| When I got into the Volkswagen business I had been married for 20 years and had 10 and 12 year old kids. But they love the bus too (not as much as me I suspect) so it is not a problem if I am always noodling with it or on the Samba because they know that is what it takes to be able to hop in, slide in a Johnny Cash CD, and go for a ride. :D |

HEY! I was practically raised in my bus. My parents drove it since I was very little and we still own it today! |

| My GF, Uh-Hem..Fiance, knows I'm addicted to my BUS. She even jokes saying if she was a bus, I'd love her more. I'm getting married on the 4th July and we need a backup plan incase it rains. Very very small wedding. I suggested the BUS with the rev inside it to marry us. She declined....LOL. Funny thing is, she knew I was serious. The BUS will still be the Honeymoon suite as we'll be going to Niagara in it!! Can't wait. |
