Honestly no progress since last post with the front end. been working too much. Prepping fundage for school and what not as well. Trying to decide on engine and costs. Need to do this quick, getting restless and want to have it running well before school starts in Oct.
Interior is also on hold waitin' on MB. He's a busy man. I live in Lakeside and hear him in the field quite often. Busy department out here. Again, Props bro for landin' the job.
Not to worry though, I can never let things sit for too long. Many little things I can do I'm sure. Just gotta get a bit more motivated to do things in a random order instead of all "as I want" " when I want." |

gonna look at a 1776 than needs push rods installed and finished being put together for $600.00. He also has the entire care for around $950.00 Gonna look at it all. Says he has cut outs done for shocks and a bunch of other stuff. Looks like he's started tubing the front end. We'll see.Would consider buying everything but I don't have room or time for a turn around car anywhere.

Since I'm at it..... anyone done any research on this motor or have any info. Seems like exactly what I'm lookin' for. However have seen it here for quite some time now. I hate the " was runnin when" idea but for 450.00 I might have something a bit more useable than what I have now. Your thoughts please!!

| These are obviously not turnkey, correct? I can currently get a turnkey 1600 dp for $750.00. haven't inquired about a 1915 yet. If it's just a long block I would rather spend the extra 50.00 to save myself the hassle of puttin it together, timing, flywheel, etc. ya know. If it's turnkey 1915 for 900.00 I'm sold. (who wouldn't be). Or is this the price to use my core, build it and put it back together. Otherwise I'm lookin at a lot more expense than I had intended. Also, the #'s on the engine stamp are "H5" series. If I am not mistaken this is a 1500 engine correct? If so, can you turn these into 1915's? Someone may have already made it a 1600, not sure 'cause I haven't torn it apart to check the pistons yet. Also, I need to know if anyone knows how to check what size my case savers are if they are on my engine without pulling it apart? |

| aus - any warranty what does he do? VW paradise can do me 1915 for 950.00 w/ warranty and all the cool extras polishing coating the outside, etc. no offense - but for the extra 50.00 I would rather have a shop behind the project. thanks though. |

| He's independent builds engine's for shops. One good shop is Oldspeed out of paramount. What parts do they offer in their build. |

| okay time for an update - pictures soon to follow. Windows out. Interior is all primed. roll bars and interior color next. Tackled the wiring this weekend. after staring at three different diagrams I just got in there and did it. Have some questions though. Dimmer relay on instructions are different #'s than what I have. I have an S and an F, 56 and 58b or something. The difficulty is I don't know what the F and S replace in my schematic. Also, while in on the subject. does anyone know where I can find a key code that tells what each connection is ie; 56 = ?, 31= ? and so forth. I have the one that is on the samba. helpful yes but does not give individual connections. please help. Wrisley, I might have to come by and take a look at yours. Ordered a fiberglass dash, on its way. Pickin up seats this weekend. (Thanks to Rico) Im out. pictures comin' soon. |

Look at you go... dimmer switch and all....
What kind of seats did you get???
I'm not sure of a good answer to your wiring boggle...as I havent hooked up a dimmer since my first baja 7 years ago... try a couple good SambaSearch's... and if you still come up short... trial and error.... (just have lots of fuses handy.... along with a fire extinguisher, and a sense of humor.... |

| sup moto. some black on black ones. don't know the brand. price is right for the pair and they come with sliders too (neato). Quick question, do I even need the dimmer switch relay if I am going to install a seperate high/ low toggle? (thinkin' I could just use the off roads as my highs and bypass this altogether.) BTW, congrats on the two weeks, you should be done soon eh? |

never mind, duh. relay is for dimming (switching high/low current). If im not dimming it is not needed. so long as I have toggles strong enough to allow for the current. this is good. One less thing to wire and possibly go wrong.
One other thing though. Master cylinder. the schematic calls for one wire to (signal) and one wire from cylinder going to the stop lights. sounds good except my master cylinder has two ports for connections each with three connection points.(six total ????????) Which ones do I use? |
