i got my riviera wheels mounted on tires and mounted on the car finally. maybe i will get the body work finished and get fresh paint on it soon. then i can install the engine and go for a ride.

I'm not aware of any increase in track width, but I will find out soon. It's less of an issue w/ my short-axle rear end. 67 and 68 ghias had the long axles, which really limit tire clearance.

Adjusted the brakes, drove it all over town on various errands.

(All within the last month)

Pulled, dissasembled, cleaned and re-hung both carbs.
scrapped leaky pushrod tubes and replaced with new EMPI adjustables.
Adjusted valves.
Noticed oil leak at engine/transmission union.
Ordered rear main seal, flywheel o-ring, clutch alignment tool, new OEM valve covers + seals and a "snail" for the carbs.
pulled the engine to replace leaking rear (front?) main seal.
Damnit... :oops: Ordered a new transmission input seal...
standing by for the UPS man...

bottoming out on speed bumps it was fun now all i have left to do is clean out the fule line in the pan. and or or move the external line in the car

I installed that kit on my 68 Ghia with long axles. Simple to install and there was no increase in track width. They have a kit specifically engineered for the long axle cars.

I installed that kit on my 68 Ghia with long axles. Simple to install and there was no increase in track width. They have a kit specifically engineered for the long axle cars.

Ovalboy, thanks for that, now my problem is I have long axle, long spline

axles on my 66, the po must have put those on for the t-3 brakes. Man Is

this confusing, but I need some more outside clearance so that I can run

wider tires. I know that I can go back to stock axles, but can I keep my

t-3 drums with short axles? I believe they (t-3 drums) kick the track out

approx. 1/2" on each side, that is why I was asking about discs and what

they do to the track.

I realize you may not know the answer but

maybe someone else will. I'm trying to keep the cost down by not having

to buy a bunch more parts and use as much of the existing stuff I already

have. I'll already have couple thousand with ACE after he finishes my

motor. Man this shit gets expensive. It is hard not to go in 15 different

directions with all this trying to get it all back together. And I'm sorry if

I sound like I'm confused, cause I am :oops:

this week i have worked on the p.s. headlamp mounting. one of the 3 tabs came loose and dropped down in the bucket. i have put it back with epoxy because i'm not set up to weld and that light has gone possum hunting. i also replaced the door check strap rolller pin that popped out over a year ago. after discussing it's heritage for a while i finally bent the e keeper enough to go on the pin slot. that working area is not meant for large hands or tri-focals. ain't it fun?

This is my first time on this thread but I have been reading all of your posts and it is an interesting read so I will be adding my weekend excursion too if you don't mind.
Last weekend I almost finished my custom interior install and this weekend I will be finishing the gas tank install and the interior and may start my window install and check my brakes again I can't remembor when that last time I did them.

Not so much a "what did I do to my Ghia" as "what did I do for my Ghia"

Put the finishing touches on the dolly I made using the plans I found on the site. Man I love the mountain of info that can be found here. So far all I've had to do is ask/search for a question and have always found my answer. Kudos to all who contribute.

The big lift is scheduled for tomorrow. Hopefully I measured good!

removed the old, leaking transmission input seal. OMG what a pain in the butt that was... replaced the seal and re installed the engine. Saw that the throttle linkage was binding so I spent 4 hours building, adjusting cutting and welding... Adjusted and syncronized the carbeurators, using my new snail, THAT THING IS FREEKIN AWESOME! What a difference! I went out for a "quick" test drive and didn't make it back for two hours :D :D :D

Replaced the clutch, removed the mech fuel pump and installed a block off plate, installed an electric fuel pump, replaced the master cylinder, installed a new carb linkage to replace the CB crossbar linkage so the flames on the doghouse can be seen easier, buffed her out and put on a nice coat of wax in preparation for next weekend's Bug-in.

On the hottest day of the year so far...I replaced the heat exchanger cable on my '58.

Now I'll have a nice warm car. :roll:
