As a definate child of the '90s (I turned 5 in 1990) I do remember them. I had the car (I think it was red?) that you'd put them in and crash it. The seats would pop up and they'd go through the windshield, lol.
My mom found my crash test dummies coloring book a while back too. |

I can't exactly remember but Nelvana did bid on a cartoon series but as a lot of other product oriented cartoons of the day it did not happen. I believe they only did the video special in '93.
(we even had a bid to do a Kraft Dinner cartoon and a Cheetos cartoon--we did three episodes before it was canned) |

I was 2 in 1990 but 5 when the video came out. I had the yellow taxi that did the same thing and Bulls big pick-up that rolled over and blew into pieces everywhere!!! Ohh the innocence and violence....where has it all gone!! |

Vince and Larry the crash test dummies, were actually named after 2 guys who made their living as Crash Test Drivers.
This was a pretty brave (or stupid) way to make a living in the old days! |

(I actually had to read it twice- for a moment- I was trying to figure out way the Kraft Dinner carton would be cancelled..)I am continually amazed at someone can actually pitch some of these ideas to execs...I mean really - a Kraft Dinner cartoon? |

Back then Kraft had a character called "Dinnersaurus Rex" or something like that. It was on their boxes for a while. Food companies started to want to have cartoons made of their products not just sponsor programming but the american government caught wind of it and put a stop to it. The whole time slot would have been devoted to one product and that was a monopoly and this kind of programming was stopped.
Chester Cheetah (Cheetos) and Dinnersaurus Rex came to the studio at the same time. Dinnersaurus was cancelled first, we did three Chesters that didn't air then the whole team did a Little Rosie (Rosanne Barr)special instead--out of the pot and into the fire--what crap! |

| I always wanted the crash-able car, but my parent's wouldn't buy it for me(I must have been 3 or 4 at the time). I preferred Beakman's world and Bill Ny the science guy way more anyways 8) |
