They finally sold it mid 90's because the engine died......there's a surprise!! It was a pretty cool car though. I remember the curved glass on the sides and the RED interior. Red on red on red on red everything!!!!! |

Adam, that's exactly what my son rolls these days...same year, too!
I think my first ride was in my dad's 1957 Chevy Bel Air. I believe that's the only car my folks had at the time.
My oldest son came home from the hospital in my bug, and my b/f's oldest also came home from the hospital in a bug.
im sorry haha   |

what's this? an unique shape
It's not really that unique shape (well not now anyway), it's a two door hatchback which is quite common.
The Pacer was originally designed to use the rotary engine and front wheel drive setup GM was designing. However GM was unable to the good enough gas mileage out of the engines and wound up scrapping the whole project (What became the Chevy Monza was also going to use the that drivetrain).
AMC was too far into the Pacer project to scrap it so they redesigned it to use their venerable straight six (the same engine that evolved into the Jeep 4.0 engine) and a conventional rear wheel drive setup.
AMC Pacer - "The Wide Small Car".
I have no idea what kind of car my parents brought me home from the hospital in, and neither does my Mom. She is going to look at some old pictures and see if she can find one of the car. I'm usually the one to answer family historical car questions but obviously I wasn't much aware of cars in those days! |
