| I just got a 1937 and a 1941 chevy pickups for free. They are not in good shape and one has a tree growing through it. I will keep you updated as to their restoration but now what I want to know is where is the best places to get parts and restoration information. Also if I want it I can have a 1961 chevy impala for free but it was in an accident not bad and the upholstery is in great shape what do you think. |

| I will talk to the owner in a few weeks and take a look at the car one more time and if I do not want it and the owner wants rid of it I will pm Skim. But I do have to say that the owner might not rid of it he has been my friend for a few years and he wanted me to have it or no one but I will see if I can talk him out of it. |

I have a 41 3/4 ton long bed and my uncle has a 42 1/2 ton shortbed. the 42 will be restored back to original, but my 41 will be far from it. I would like to find a 261 out of a 58/59 chevy truck to put in it. i have a 235 I6 and a 305 v8 to choose from. not sure what direction to go yet.

The only thing that was a real hassle was the core charge on my master cylinder...but eventually I got that straight too...of course that was like 2001, so who knows how they are now... |

I have a 1940 Chevy 6 motor that was rebuilt. The motor runs perfect. I also have a 1966 292 Chevy inline 6 apart so you inspect. Where do you live ? |

I have a 261, but it is in my grandfathers old 59 2 ton. it has been sitting since 1985. i put the axel back under it, rebuilt the brakes and am now having problems with cooling. I pulled the water plug out of the crankcase and nothing came out but sludge. im afraid of running a radiator flush solution through it because I dont want to hurt the headgasket. any suggestions? i was going to blow compressed air into the hole and hope it starts draining. :?
my grandfather bought this truck brand new.
some asshat stole my oilbath, so i have this until i find a new one (and yes, i do have the correct battery, but i killed it with all the cranking. the bungee is just keeping the oversize one in)

| THOSE late 30's and early 40's chevy's are bad! i had a 39 i sold when my pops went to jail one time for 50 bucks! that was 8 years ago...seems like a lifetime. and he also gave me a shortbed 59 apache that i stuffed a 454 into, grafted a 79 Camaro front suspension to, and slapped an iroc rear end ....that thing boogied. i sold it to finish my 67 ssrs. needless my dad was sad and i still see the apache now and then as i sold it to my friend....i may get it back next tax time, but the gas usage on that truck is sick...ill try to find pics. |

OTHER THAN TAKING IT APART THE ONLY THING YOU CAN DO IS FLUSH THE BLOCK AND RUN WATER THROUGH IT. NEW FEEZE PLUGS AND SUCH BESIDES THE STRAIGHT SIX HEADS ARE NOT THAT BAD TO REPLACE GASKETS ON EXCEPT IF IT HAS BAD PITTING, JB WELD AND SMOOTH . THAT THING SHOULD FIRE RIGHT UP.

I ran some compressed air into the drain hole, and got it to drain, then i took the waterpump off and sprayed a high pressure jet of water into the block and got all the chunks blown out. drains good now and the water runs clear.
my next big hurdle is finding affordable insurance for it. I am not in agriculture so it will cost a grip. someone suggested finding out how much a business license will cost in my county, and starting a fake fruit and vegetable distributing business. Its alot of work for a car hauler :? |

| Well bad news I got the chevy and it is ok shape. But the impala is now a bar of steel. The owner said I did not show interest so he sold it for scrap. As for the ford it is missing. I am still looking for it. I cannot post the photos of them since they are not vw related. |

you could host the pics in your own photobucket/imageshack account and still post them in this thread.... |
