i was offered a porsche 912 1969 very bad conditions..buck of rust with all 911 series parts and vw beetle engine.

in my opinion car would be good just to do a race replica naked car.

would be nice to do an rsr 2,8 replica project.

estetically rsr...mechanically something fun, with no special parts with crazy prices like double ignition.

a frined of mine has a 3,2 enigiand pre g50 gearbox.

possible to mount them on 912 body without much modifactions?

if its a stock 5 speed i would stay with a four cylinder powerplant and built up a Volkswagen Unit that will put out at-least 150HP if its cheap and your trying to stay on the sane side of a race replica ..... do that ... hell you can turbo charge the vw unit for almost less money than it would be to refurbish a stock 911 power unit.... I like the idea of a 2.8 replica... the 2.8 had wider flares and rims... finding the right Fuchs is gonna be expensive.... but will be worth it... besides you dont really NEED anything but a dashpad and door cards for that kind of project...just make sure the metal gets pretty.... wish i was in your shoes bud....

You could also swap a Type 4 engine in there like the 912E's had.

Put in a Subaru! People are super receptive to the the idea in this forum!

subaru idea is not stupid.

150 hp wont be few with all that tyre?

won't we risk to have a cosmetic rsr with no power to drive as it want?

ty for ideas guys!!!

wider arches, fiberglass doors, fiberglass dashboard, fiberglass wide bumpers, plexiglas windows, light glass windscreen, 9 inches and 11 inches fuchs, ducktail deck, fiberglass bootlid are available as replica.

all the parts to do a perfect 911 r replica are available too. but i prefer rsr. its bad. to fear!!!!!

by the way....

original rsr factory configuration was more or less 280 hp.

to do a volkswagen engine with that power is little difficult..and i can bet it is not reliable as a 3200 porsche...and i can bet with that vw engine u can't afford to do a 200 kph travel for 500 miles..as you can do with the porsche.

to rebuild a 3200 230 hp unit maybe would cost 8-9000 euros.

to build a volkswagen 200 hp engine maybe is around 5-6000...but i still bet that in life of porsche engine you change 4 or 5 vw modified ones..

still think that flat six is the way to go.
