Am I a dolt or is there a certain knack to looking up a user name on this forum? When I click Memberlist the option is there to lookup a user or find a user name. Yet, it doesn't seem to work. It retrieves the user list alphabetically.

I searched on the two phrases and got no hits. Any thoughts?

I'm user a Firefox browser, if that makes a difference.

Click on Find a username and you can do a search.

I have done exactly that many times over. It originally finds the user name and shows it in a dropdown in the same window. Then, when I select OK, it returns to the memberlist. Yet, nothing has changed.

I've tried this with Internet Explorer and have the same results.

Could it be that something in being blocked?

Once you do the search :
In the Find pop-up drop-down, select the name you want and press Select.
The pop-up places the name you selected in the little box in the upper-right on the Memberlist screen.
Press Look up User

Yes, the small window disappears, but it puts the name in the search box and then you have to click on "Look up User" to go to that specific user.

Ok, it's working now that I followed those precise directions. Anything less than that is a bust.

Possibly, my problem is that I develop software and for whatever reason that sequence of steps didn't make sense to me. Originally I typed the name into that search box and it was ineffective in finding the user.

I think there's a bug in that area of the forum. But obviously others are working fine with it, and now that I know its idiosynchrosies, I'll be fine too.

that's not a bug -- it's a feature!

That's odd. Today the Lookup User "feature" is working fine just by typing a name into the appropriate area and selecting Lookup User. Whatever - just glad to have it functional.

It always worked. I thought you were trying to find a user where you didn't know their exact name.

It seems like for whatever reason it works perfectly sometimes, and other times not at all. Eventually I'll figure out why - it may well be something on my end that's causing it.
