Well, I have been scoping a few 1967 or older Westys and did find one that I wanted to get. It was on eBay and I did win the auction. Now time will tell if I made a good choice. I have the seller email me more pictures and it looks like a decent Westy to build up with to make it mostly stock later on.

Here is the eBay URL.

Check it out and let me know what you think. I am getting rather exited to get it shipped to me or better yet, I may try to bus it to Colorado where it is and take a couple, maybe 3 day journey with it home from CO to California.

Regards

Looks good to me. Drive it home. This is the perfect time of year to be out on the road. And CO is gorgeous.

Looks nice for the price.

Keep us posted when you get it and fully inspect it and let us know how you feel about it.
Should be a blast to camp in and fave fun with.

Congrats! Even has the spice rack....

But no walk-thru ice box. But, a lot of people like them w/o the box anyways for the room.

Yup, now I will have to hunt one down if they ever come available.

Call me paranoid, but I'd have someone I trusted check the bus out before coughing up the cash.
The guy joined ebay to place the ad and has no feedback.
Or better yet, go get it yourself and pay upon receipt of the vehicle.

I think I may just go pick it up. The seller even offered to pick me up at the airport should I fly in. Sounds like a nice guy so far. I had noticed the 0 feedback and being a new seller. I had him answer all sorts of questions and email pics of his westy plate that shows it is a SO42. Plus eBay does have the "This vehicle is eligible for up to $50,000 in free Vehicle Purchase Protection". I think I will pick it up anyway but when I live chatted with eBay, if the auction has this, and I pay the normal way via money order and not by cash or something, I am covered. Not sure if that is bogus or what but it does show that.

I live very close and could go check it out if you wanted. Its about a 2 hour drive each way but would be happy to go look at it for the price of gas. Just thought Id offer my help. I dont know a lot about the specifics of the splits (Im more of a baywindow guy, I know, start making fun of me......now) but I do know a lot about VW's and what to look for.

That's a very generous offer and very cheap compared to flying/driving out first.
I'd jump over the opportunity for any bus guy to inspect first.

Its too bad that some probably honest seller has to have suspicions cast by the bad eggs. What you described doesn't sound like typical scammer behaviour. I'd still get myself or some trusted third party to set up a meet at the bus location to make sure its cool before paying.

Does anybody else get excited when they see a radio-delete plate. Mmmm I'm in love...

Bus is in Monument???
About 20 minutes from me....
If you do the fly out and drive back thing, and need a place to "check things over" before you go, let me know... There's a couple of us out here that can help you out.

That is a real nice offer. Thanks.

VW people are the greatest..

Anyway, I think we are pretty good. I have discussed the bus the owner over the phone and he very much sounds on the up and up. I feel we are pretty good for the trip. I have a flight scheduled and will be going to pick it up in the next week and a half or so.

And by the way, I think Bay Windows are pretty darned nice. I would glady take a kermit frog green 1979 in a poptop please! Maybe one day I will. hehehe

Thanks for the offer. I will PM you for contact info just in case I need some support when I get there.

Take care,

Sweet dude, it kinda looks like mine did before 'the unpleasentness.' Except yours is a real walk through and a real Westy (I suspect mine was a 'something else' that had camper stuff installed). I busted my spice rack, meth addicts stole my cooler, and someone broke way the seat behind the drivers to get at a CD changer I had hidden (not well enough) there. :(

And it's still awesome. You're in for good times.

Thanks, dude. It's all being reversed now. It was also vandalized (windows and lights smashed), last straw-it's now in the shop being reassembled to its former glory.
