I'm looking at a right hand drive 1955 bug. It has to be completely restored. Since it's a right hand drive bug, does that make it rare??? Also what is a running 36 hp motor worth?
Thanks,
Peter |

Depends on your definition of rare. Rare or not, they are completely cool, and should have pics posted of them!
As far as you 36hp engine...post the engine# and corresponding production date, someone may need it for a resto.
Got $400 for a complete running Mar '55 engine last year. |

It also depends on how it was restored, as to the value of it.
Some people refer to a customized Beetle as a restored Beetle, 2 different things with 2 different values.
Have you seen the car? Or is it overseas?
Cheers

I have seen the car. It needs to be completely restord. I think I'm going to buy it and sit on it for a while and eventually restore it. |

Sorry, I misread your first post. Unrestored, OK.
Keep in mind that most reproduction parts are for LHD cars, so things like the rubber floor mats etc. are difficult to get. |

| I got the car. It turned out to be a 1956, but it's a right hand drive. The guy parked it inside in 1961 and then put it outside in 1990, and it's beed parked there every since. It needs alot of work, so I think I'm going to sell it. |

| Ebay took it down and I'm waiting on a response. They took it down because I didn't post it in the car section, but it's posted on there as a parts car. It has no title and is not street legal (as it is right now) so It shouln't have to be posted in ebay motors. As soon as I get an anwser I'm going to put it back on. If you are interested please send me an e-mail and I will send you some pictures. |
