| Opinions and knowledgeable input on this please. I have always seen clear plastic, but have come across a pair of glass ones with VW and Hella logos. |

Not 100% sure, but I believe the glass style are for Lowlight ghia's?

I heard that too, and have never seen an original Beetle with glass bullets. |

Thats right. The glass ones are for early ghias and dont come close to fitting without tring to cut them down. |
