View original topic: Mounting gauges overhead?

Hi all,

I want to add CHT, oil temp, and oil pressure gauges to my oval, but I refuse to cut holes in my pristine dash. I don't want to hang them under the dash because then they would be too far out of the line of sight. I'm thinking about fabricating a custom overhead panel so they would mount above the rear view mirror. The panel would have a bracket that would be sandwiched between the mirror base and the body using the three original screw holes, and of course it would be constructed so it hides the backs of the gauges. I could run the wires in the cavity above the windshield and down the driver's side before the headliner goes in.

Any of you ever mounted your gauges overhead like that? I'd love to see pics.

Thanks,

This is my wifes tach mount.
It uses the visor mounting screws.

My 61 has something similar but gets sandwiched under the rear view mirror.

This setup has been my favorite for the past 2 years
