When I bought my bus and towed it home last year it was a breeze driving 70mph, but now I can’t go over 50mph without it shaking my Expedition so bad it feels like I’m going to lose control. Any thoughts on what may be causing the shaking? There is some play in the steering wheel, but not too bad….I don’t tow very often…. It’s a 71’ deluxe, I'm using a bus tow bar..... :?:

Steering damper gone bad?

Is it out of gear? Is your trailer hitch loose. Did you pile weight in it or shift the weight balance like maybe put an engine in it?

Have you checked the front suspension of the Expedition?

Expedition is fine, I tow my ghia and bug w/ no problems.... Bus is not in gear, steering wheel in not locked..... no weight in bus.... there was an engine when I towed home... I ordered a good steering box, replace all steering compenents and get alinement, and see what happens... :?:

Jack it and spin the wheels. Maybe you have a locked up brake.

How is the steering mechanism on the towed bus? I had this happen when the knuckle that holds the tie rod arms to the front beam was failing.

If there is slop there, it can be transmitted to the tow vehicle.
