If I understand what your asking..

you just chisel off the old welds and spot weld the new pans on with a good MIG welder

i was going to cut the old pans out and was wondering which way to go with the weld spot weld or weld the whole seam?

I know that the best way is to use spot welds and not to weld the whole seam. I can't remember the reason at the moment. (Darn C.R.S. )

How do you plan on replacing the pans -- body on or body off?

I think it means 'at one time' which will have heat warp and all that. I do the spot weld in the middle of the seam, then both ends. Then a spot weld in the middle between those welds. Then the middle of those welds, until I have almost a continuos weld.

I've gone beyond that..KRAFT...Kan't Remember A F**king Thing.. :?
