I have a 1995 4 cylinder GTI. The car has 105k on the clock. I recently replaced both of the oil pressure sensors and the oil pump and purchased a factory oil filter. The oil is Castrol 5w30
Today on my way home from work at about 2000 RPM my oil pressure light came on twice.
My question is can anybody tell me what's wrong? Am I using the wrong oil in the car for the summer? Should I be using 20w50 or is it something much worse? I haven't installed the oil pressure guage yet I plan on doing that this weekend and seeing where my oil pressure sits.
If anyone can help I'd greatly appreciate it.

| Yes, you need the factory oil filter, but for summer you need to run 20-50 |

Took the words right out of my mouse. 8)
The dealer where I used to work had 15w40 as the standard 'shop' customer change oil, and the techs that drove VW's themselves used 20w50 in the warmer months. An OE filter(by Mann, Mahle or Hengst) makes for the complete package. |
