I'm in the final stretch of installing my 2332. Some recent pics...
"T" fitting on tank
Factory EFI fuel lines at end of pan tunnel
Fuel pump mounted — This is the first time I mounted this, I ended up moving it down into the front beam so that it's lower than the fuel tank
Shot of the new brake fluid reservoirs that my friend Ethan gave me (and installed!) a while ago
Harrisen, my son, removing the rear wheel to get access to the back fuel lines where they exit the pan
2332 EFI beast in the engine bay
Still working on lots of little details at this point. But the motor starts and runs in the car!
More pics soon... |

Measuring end play with a dial gauge
Aligning clutch with trans main shaft (works great!)
Pressure plate installed
Detail of pressure plate and flywheel balance marks (two zeros together by bolt)

| NICE! after I blow through my 2276, I am bumping up to a 2332 or 2414. For some reason, fast is never fast enough. :) |

| I have Scat's bottom tins. They turn the air under the cylinders. |

Forgot to post...
Had the motor in the Notch last Thurs or Friday and my son and I got some gas, and filled the tank. We got in and started the motor to go for a short test drive and no clutch!! If you look at the pressure plate above, I had a late pressure plate and an early trans with the typical throwout bearing... Not engaging the clutch! On Saturday I pulled the motor back out and swapped out pressure plates and put the motor back in. Which is fun with the EFI loom... And... I drove my Notch with the 2332 on Saturday!! A BIG difference between the 1835 with the 40 Dells, that's for sure! Man 'o man what a great combo 2332 + EFI — I highly recommend this to all! Is there a 1500 x 1.55 club??
Pic of me driving to our local VW club meeting taken by my friend D in his Ghia — ya, um, no brake lights yet...
First drive video [<-- click]
No sound, unfortunately...
I have a list of things to fix/finish/work on... 1st is getting the muffler off the ground! 2nd is wiring up the DDB alternator. |

Not the standard. It's from Scat. It won't work with the sleds at all. Tried it already... |

Ya, the back needs to go up about 2 splines. I can't believe I'm saying this, but it's toooo low! |

Some more work on the Rat Notch...
This is how low the muffler was before — really low!
Muffler welded back on — this pic doesn't really show how much higher it is
Muffler with new bumper and hitch!
Cleaning bumpers
Front bumper mounted
I guess the tabs on the engine lids on the older Type 3s were smaller — we had to improvise and grind the tabs smaller from the donor '69 Type 3 engine lid
Harrisen, my son, working on the wiring for the alternator
Detail of the DDB alternator wired in — notice that it just barely fits with the MSD distributor
And all the dipstick parts getting cleaned in the dishwasher — shhhhhhh don't tell my wife Cindy!!
I still have a #&%$ oil leak — hope to get this fixed this weekend
I'm pretty sure the oil is leaking from the oil cooler |
